Fear, tension and increased state control - journalism 2016       printable version
21 Apr 2016: posted by the editor - Journalism, International

Just a scant handful of countries fall under the ranking of ‘Good Situation’ in the 2016 Reporters Without Borders press freedom index, published this week by RWB.

The 2016 World Press Freedom Index reflects the intensity of the attacks on journalistic freedom and independence by governments, ideologies and private-sector interests during the past year.

Most of the movement in the World Press Freedom Index unveiled on 20 April 2016 by Reporters Without Borders is indicative of a climate of fear and tension combined with increasing control over newsrooms by governments and private-sector interests.
